YOS winter swim squad is for YOS members who are regulars. That way, we all know each other well and can look after each other because we know how each of us swims, know our limits, know how to care for each other.
The Winter Swim Squad will have 3 purposes
- Recreational winter swimming – turn up and swim – £3 per session as normal
- Ice mile attempts – only for swimmers who are training with us on a regular basis at Harthill.
- IISA &/or IWSA competitions – taking a squad to Big Chill Swim 9/10 December. IISA Nationals, Loch Lomond, Feb 2017. Hopefully, we will have swimmers on the GB team for IISA world champs in Germany, Jan 2017. There are plenty of other competitions which we will encourage swimmers to enter on an individual basis.
Winter Swim Squad will commence at the beginning of October.
Sessions will be:-
- Tuesday morning at 1st light. 1st session = 4th October at 7.30 am.
- Saturday afternoon 2-4 pm
- Sunday morning – for ice mile and competitive training only
- – 1st session = 9th October time to be confirmed (check this page for update)
We would welcome volunteers for all three sessions so that we can have support indoors and out should swimmers need assistance during recovery. You can add your name to the volunteer rota here:
We will be looking at the possibility of using the large course at times but will expect swimmers to wear a tow float during training sessions on the large course (tow float use on the smaller course is optional).
